Filming Interviews

Interview input brings documentary video to life with your subject’s unique personality.
Here are some good practices:
  • Plan everything – your location should have good acoustic and lighting control.  Beware of ringing phones, traffic noise, air conditioning.
  • Prep your subject in advance.  Ensure they are comfortable on set.
  • Fluorescent or LED softlights are ideal for location interviews – low power draw, minimal heat and cosmetically flattering.
  • A wireless lavaliere microphone gives the subject freedom to roam.  Consider filming the subject standing up – clothing hangs naturally and is more dynamic.
